Hello friends! Wanna welcome you guys back to our second newsletter for Calvary Chapel Sunnyvale! We are a few days less than a month from planting and leading our first service. In this edition we are excited to keep you filled in on what's been happening & how the Lord is opening doors! In this second issue you'll read and see some photos about our first church plant team meeting, an update on our meeting location, some praise reports, and ways you can support us!

Church Plant Team

As I mentioned in the last issue, church planting is more than the charisma of one, but a real work of the Lord building His church and bringing together the team He would have to love & build up the community. Last Sunday (04/19) we were able to gather for the first time with everyone who has committed to joining Calvary Chapel Sunnyvale and a few friends from other churches to learn about church planting and pray for our city. Plus a lot of Tacos were consumed thank you Martin!

In our study we talked about the great commission, how Jesus builds His church, and the necessity of prayer. The great commission is the church’s call to share the gospel, to make disciples, and be witnesses of what He's done in our lives. One of the greatest ways we can do that is be a part of a church plant, giving Jesus to a community, and giving a central place where anyone in the community can come and consistently be given a place to be discipled in the word, loved and grown to go out and share. We also talked about how Jesus is the one who builds the church, not a coffee shop, not a taco shop, not a school but Jesus is about building His church, we can trust Him & He will do the heavy lifting. As believers our attention should be given to that work of building the church how He would want it. Lastly we talked about the need for prayer, nowhere in Acts are the miracles and works of God separate from a people given to prayer, asking for God to move. There is a desperate need for the church to learn how to pray and be dependant upon Him.

There's a famous Leonard Ravenhill quote “The only reason we don't have revival is because we are willing to live without it” it perfectly encapsulates the heart of how much do we want it? Are we willing to continually pray for revival? Pray for our family, friends, community to know Jesus? Are we willing to share Jesus with the people around us?

Church Meeting Location

We are very excited to announce we have officially secured bishop elementary as our first meeting location! God is good, and we wanna thank you guys for praying for this open door! Below are some pictures of the facility, the theater that we will be using as the main sanctuary has the capability to seat up to 475 people! A big vision and lots of room for growth. It's freshly renovated and offers us the ability to use their new sound system, a professional grade projector, and it's all easy to plug in and go. The multipurpose room we have rented for children's ministry has the capability to fit 235 kids as well! Lots of room for them to run around and have their own space to grow in the Lord. It's in the heart of Sunnyvale only a 5 minute drive from downtown! Praying that this would become a central hub to the city/community for the word of God to go forth, and for Jesus to be praised.

Praise Reports

We have had more people reach out wanting to join the team! This for us is a praise report because the Lord is building a team. There is always much room for help, from spiritually praying for us or even with us Sunday nights, to the physicality of lending a hand or leading a ministry. We love the offers of wanting to help, if you're thinking about it let us know and we can work on getting you plugged into a ministry!

Just recently I had reached out to a friend who professionally does graphics for churches in the hopes of getting a logo created for the church. No expectations of hand outs as this is his profession, but within the first few minutes he offered his services to us for FREE! By May 11th we will be rolling out our first logo and color schemes for the church, & are excited to have them blasted on invites ready to hand out to everyone and everybody around the city!

Some people have asked how they can give financial support to the church, apart from Physically giving to myself (Pastor Joseph), Miah Herrera, or Martin Herrera We now have an online option to give on Paypal to give. You are able to give without an account through card, apple pay, or Venmo!

Prayer Points

Prayer is the action that says we trust and are dependent on Jesus, join us in these prayer points!
